LED - how does it work?

led lights

The operation of the LED for people who have little in common with the current can be complicated, but we will try to explain it as simple as possible. It should start with the fact that in the diode there is a connector of two semiconductors that have different charges - PN is used for such a connector. The carriers, in this case, are electrons with a negative charge and positive electron deficits, which are called holes or free places. Light is generated by jumping electrons from layer N to holes from level PIn this process, during the jump, electrons have a large surplus of energy, which is given out in the form of light. The element of the diode, which changes the electric energy into light, is a semiconductor chip that conducts the current only one way. It should also be mentioned that the intensity of lighting depends on the power of the supplied electricity.

White diode and RGB

Not everyone knows that white light does not exist in nature. So what is the result of the fact that our brain is distinguished by such a color of lighting? The consequence of receiving white light by the brain is the combination of several colors in certain proportions. Therefore, you should be aware that there is no such thing as white LEDs. The ones that we receive for white really shine in blue, but thanks to covering them with a phosphor, we perceive their light as white.
RGB diodes are also available on the market. These consist of three small LEDs in three basic colors: red, green and blue. The RGB diode, thanks to the appropriate combination of colors, can illuminate white. RGB LED lighting usually gives you the ability to control the brightness of colors, so we can create any color of light.

The advantages of LED lighting

LED lighting is becoming more and more common in our homes. No one is surprised by the LED lamp, LED sconces in the bathroom, or hall lighting using this technology. For what reason do we so willingly decide on this type of lighting?
The main and most frequently mentioned advantage of LED lighting is energy efficiency. LED lamp and other LED lamps are characterized by low power consumption, so the change of traditional LED lighting will positively affect the number of electricity bills.
The LEDs are small, thanks to which they have a very wide range of applications. They can be an element of not only central lighting in the room but also great as additional and decorative lighting.
They decide on lighting with LED diodes, we are also sure of the long lifetime of this type of lighting. Depending on the manufacturer, a specific light source can be up to 100,000 hours!
LED diodes in such light sources as an LED lamp, street lamps or sconces are a commonly used solution. Low power consumption and long life of this type of lighting allow us to conclude that LED lamps can completely dominate the lighting market, and traditional light bulbs and other light sources will go away.
